10th June
2011
Dear Harvey and Friends
How are you? At last I am writing to you, as I promised.
Was the relaxation afternoon on the 4th June a
success? We remembered you in our prayers.
Thank you for the help you sent for the poorest children.
This is a little report on what is happening at our
centre.
Within the last few weeks a lot of things have taken
place here.
Firstly the two Irish volunteers whom we were expecting
to start work on our project on the 1st of June appeared on the
scene two weeks early. They began work immediately. With Fr. Louis to advice
them they employed seven local men to work with them. Almost overnight things
began to happen. The first thing we saw was two “Caterpillar Machines”
levelling the ground in preparation for the building. Then the men started
digging trenches for the foundation.
Last Saturday morning the area was a “hive of activity” –
The concrete was poured in the foundations. It was a most beautiful sight for
us to see – these concrete mixes going in and out of the property emptying their
concrete! Padraig, Edmund and the men worked hard levelling out the concrete in
the trenches. They had to work very fast before the concrete began to set.
The Sisters placed some medals of some saints in the
concrete hoping for God’s blessing on those who are working there now – and
also on all those who will do so, for many a year to come.
Last Saturday morning the Fund-Raising Committee and the
teachers worked very hard at a function to make some funds to help towards the
project. Prior to the day the parents donated various items towards the
function. They sold “Curry & Rice” / Boerewors rolls / Popcorn / cold
drinks and sweets. A profit of R 3826.00 was made. It was encouraging to see
the support given so generously by the teachers and parents.
It seems like a miracle to behold the beginning of the
building after waiting so many years!
Thanks to each one of you for your support and interest.
May God bless you and your dear ones a hundred fold.
With Love from,
The Sisters, Staff, Children and their Parents of Don
Bosco Educare, Delft.
